Dec 12, 2025 - FASSelangor FC were unable to add any points in the competition after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Lion City Sailors, thus ending their campaign in the ACLTWO 2025/26, Group G.
Even though the team already knew we could not progress to the next round, the players still put up a strong fight against the Lion City Sailors, producing 14 attempts and several chances from corner kicks. The first half ended goalless. Not long after the second half began, Tsiy-William Ndenge scored the only goal of the match in the 50th minute, which proved to be the winner for The Sailors. Although the team continued to make attempt after attempt while defending against the opposition’s pressure, the match still ended 0–1.
Christophe Gamel, Selangor FC’s Head Coach, admitted that disciplinary mistakes cost the team, but he hopes that experiences like this will help the players in the future.
“Once again, a small mistake ruined the game and we must accept it with an open heart. A set-piece situation punished the team. In one aspect we are at a good level, but in other aspects we still need to constantly improve,” he explained.
“This has been a good experience for us, especially when facing strong teams in a tournament like this, as it helps develop the team’s style of play. I know the result is not great, but we learnt a lot. Besides that, there were several players whom I gave playing minutes to in preparation for their future,” he added.
Next, Selangor FC will travel to the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium to face PDRM FC for the 2025/26 Super League on 23 December at 9pm.
The Selangor FC management would like to express our deepest gratitude to the 2,354 supporters who attended and enlivened the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya yesterday. Your support certainly lifted the players’ spirits. We truly appreciate it.
